Episode 11 with Dr Wasim Fazel, as short-form content

These five clips come from your latest podcast, found online. Each one is ready for LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube Shorts and TikTok, with a post written from your point of view, plus one carousel. Nothing here has been posted anywhere.

The episode

Dr Wasim Fazel, a multiple practice owner, implantologist and educator, talks through how he built his career. He plans, invests early in the right people (a nurse he hired within 30 seconds of meeting her has worked with him for 13 years), guards his time (two clinical days a week that nothing gets in the way of), and says any practice you build is the embodiment of you.

The five clips follow that thread: be true to yourself, hire for value, protect your time, let go, and don’t let critics stop you showing your work.

Your practice is your values, made visible

Why this one

You’ve already posted this moment yourself, so it’s here to compare like for like: same minute, our edit and our post. In under a minute Wasim gives the episode’s point: any practice you build is the embodiment of you.

Your practice is your values, made visible Does being nice actually work at scale? I put that to Dr Wasim Fazel. His answer was simple. Absolutely. Wasim believes any practice you build is the embodiment of you as a person. If you're a nice person with good values, that gets replicated across your organisation. Value someone, do what's right for them, and they reciprocate. That's how you multiply. That's how you scale. That's why a brand doesn't start with the design. It starts with the person who built the practice. Full episode with Dr Wasim Fazel in the comments.

Hire the person, not the vacancy

Why this one

Hiring was the theme of one of your own posts for this episode (“This is how smart people hire talent”). Wasim’s 30-second hire is the most concrete story in the conversation.

Hire the person, not the vacancy Dr Wasim Fazel needed a nurse. That same morning, he'd scrumpled up a CV and thrown it in the bin. So he took it back out. Flattened it. Called her in. Within 30 seconds, he knew. She wasn't just going to fill a vacancy. She was going to change the way everything happens in his practice. He hired her on the spot. Within six months he could see how valuable she was. So he paid her almost three times what others were paying. His friends said he was mad. His reply? If I don't, someone else will. Thirteen years later, Megs still works with him. That's what the right hire does. You multiply yourself. Full episode with Dr Wasim Fazel in the comments.

How I do 20 things at once

Why this one

This one is you, not the guest: the default diary, a method a practice owner can use straight away. It carries the theme of your post “Your schedule shows what you truly value”.

How I do 20 things at once I don't think multitasking works. I'd rather hyper focus. Do one thing really well. Then move on to the next. Many years ago, a coach introduced me to the default diary. The exercise is simple. List everything you do for the next two weeks, hour by hour. Nine to ten. Ten to eleven. Then find the low-value tasks. The ones someone else could do for £10 to £15 an hour. Then block out your calendar. Non-negotiables. One of mine is time with my mum. No work. Inside each block, I hyper focus. No distractions. Dr Wasim Fazel blocks his week too. His businesses generally keep to their own days. That's how I've been able to do 20 things at once. Without anything suffering. Your schedule shows what you truly value. There are two kinds of letting go

Why this one

You again, making the case for letting go so you can do more important things. It sits alongside your post “This is how high performers avoid burnout”.

There are two kinds of letting go One is the passive income mindset. Let go and chill on the beach. The other is letting go so you can do more important things. I'm for the second. Dr Wasim Fazel put it simply. A lot of dentists struggle with one thing. They don't want to let go. But if you're going to scale, you have to let go. And you need that one person you trust. For Wasim, that's Megs. For me, it's Neha. So what happens if you don't let go? You burn out. You end up thinking in a small box. No growth. No way to help more people. And if you're constantly wired when you're with your kids at home... that's not success. Full episode with Dr Wasim Fazel in the comments.

Don’t let one negative comment stop you posting

Why this one

Young dentists’ fear of posting their cases is something you wrote about in Instagram for Dentists, and Wasim first came across you through a negative post about you.

Don't let one negative comment stop you posting The reason Dr Wasim Fazel first came across me? Someone had posted something negative about me. He read it the other way. It told him I was worth meeting. A lot of young dentists have a fear of sharing their cases. There's a lot of negativity in dentistry, as Wasim says. A negative voice is sometimes only one in ten. But it can feel like nine in ten. I wrote about this years ago in my book, Instagram for Dentists. If your case is good enough, your patient is happy and you've met all the guidelines, it's good enough to post. The dentists criticising you aren't your patients. Be open to criticism. Just don't let one negative voice decide whether your work gets seen. Full episode with Dr Wasim Fazel in the comments.
